  • About The Role

  • We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our after school provision.  

    The successful applicant will be reliable and passionate about working with children and enjoy working as part of a team.  The ability to form positive relationships with children, parents, carers and staff is essential.  Good communication skills and the ability to deliver exciting and engaging, child-focussed activities will also be required.  Experience of preparing simple but nutritious meals an administering basic first aid is also desirable but training will be provided for the right candidate.

    This post is a customer-facing position and falls within the scope of the Code of Practice on English Language Requirement for Public Sector Workers. The school has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the JD/Person Specification.

  • Birkbeck Primary School is a large, three-form entry family-friendly school and nursery that is located in the heart of Sidcup in Kent.  The school was previously housed in the building now used by Doreen Bird College on Birkbeck Road, it has been in its present site in Alma Road since the 1960’s. 

    At present there are 660 pupils on roll. 

    Ofsted rated us a ‘Good School with Outstanding Features’ in our latest inspection (December 2023). 

    We are proud to be in the top 4% for our Key Stage 2 results in the past 2 years.
