We are seeking to appoint a committed, reliable and enthusiastic Premises/Site Assistant to join our dedicated team and help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our children, staff and visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who takes pride in their work, enjoys practical tasks and values being part of a supportive school community. The successful candidate will be approachable, hardworking and able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff and external contractors – ensuring they are part of our Birkbeck Crew beyond the site.
Working closely with the Premises Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that the school site is safe, well-maintained and fit for purpose. You will assist with the day-to-day operation of the premises, helping to provide an environment where children can learn and thrive.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with the security and safeguarding of the school site
• Being a key holder of the school
• Supporting the maintenance, cleanliness and presentation of buildings and grounds
• Carrying out minor repairs and basic DIY tasks
• Assisting with health and safety checks and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accurate recording
• Supporting the setting up of rooms and facilities for school events and activities
• Monitoring site issues and reporting maintenance requirements – being proactive as well as reactive
• Helping to ensure the school remains a safe, warm (or cool) and welcoming environment for all users
We are looking for someone who:
• Is reliable, trustworthy and conscientious
• Has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Enjoys working as part of a team but can also work independently too
• Has good practical skills and the ability to undertake basic maintenance tasks
• Has an awareness of health and safety requirements within a school environment
• Can communicate effectively with children and adults
• Takes pride in maintaining high standards
• Organised and forward thinking
In return, we can offer:
• Friendly and supportive colleagues
• A welcoming school community
• Opportunities for training and professional development
• The chance to make a meaningful contribution to the daily life of the school
If you are a practical, motivated individual who would enjoy helping to maintain an environment where children can flourish, we would love to hear from you.
